If we can say
that how
shapes what
and that content
seeks
its most telling
expression,
then: how you experience
foreshadows
what you will say.
Aware that habits of mind,
predilections
in apprehension
and judgment
underlie our world,
aware, also, that moods
hold sway
beneath expression
and that obsessive
intentions guide it,
you can
make the how and what
more clear
and more clearly
your own.
It is not what you
or I
have to say
that interests me
most, but
the states of mind
that underlie, undermine
and preclude
the saying of it. “In mind”
matters.
Even the most assured
and inspired
has its nurtured
origins.
