UNDER WATER

I mine language for the words

that haunt me

I mine words for the sounds

that wake me

I xylophone my body

Sound struck bone breath ghost writes my arrival

A single note in the trees

names me

In the hidden nest a mother

feeds her child

My heroic brother shields the insects

from poison

The words that will wet our lips

Arsenic stained atrazine looped heavy metaled

glyphosate rumors

that hold their breath under water

As light as lead

as swift as mercury

I sing
