TAKING ACCOUNT

It’s the morning after.
Whether I slept standing
or stumbled wingless to a crawl,

I Wake:
leftward leaning
sluggish in reversal,

Sense:
a marionette on the loose,
my body intact

Feel:
so many gut wakened moths
fluttering in denial

See:
what use the window
when there is so much wall

Know:
what use the sun
in the absence of sky

Speak:
a shudder of bats
break loose from their cave

Do:
upended by the mountain,
the left leg goes barefoot in search of the right

Aspire:
antagonisms subdued
misdeeds abandoned beneath the rubble

Be:
this reoccurring apprehension
readily tamed
