IN BETWEEN

Between sensation
and the recognition of sensation,
between body

and mind:
a residual fluctuation
Not outside

the sensation,
but throughout,
grounded

and expanding
As if touch
were tinged with seeing

And seeing
was wide open
As if sound

broke free from meaning,
breath borne
beneath the pulse,

settling and widening
Marked by light
glimpsed in the blood

throbbing: Here
and Here
As if out-breath

and in-breath, mine
and yours,
even when absent,

mingled,
even when distant
merged

not a heartbeat
away
