Upon awakening,
aware of where you are
not yet entangled

by thought, or blindly thrust into habit,
let the senses settle.
Lying there, or sitting up,

within a loose sense of the body,
place the mind in the heart or the gut,
and in the inner corners of the eyes,

then embedded in the lips
and the fingertips. Take this as the mind
brushing or touching the body

from within. The mind
(having taken time to do this)
putting on the body.

The body breathing
In/ within/ Out/ without
Expanding/ settling

Suffused with this sense,
the mind shifts and settles
as you stand

and move on into the day
that awaits you
